Exchange 2000 is certainly designed to create multiple public folder
trees. And it's true that MAPI clients can only see the default TLH,
with HTTP clients able to view additional TLHs. But I've not tried
subscribing a PF on an additional TLH to a mailing list.

So you're saying this OOF problem only exists on additional public
folder trees? If you do what Michele asks below and access the PF via
OWA, does the problem still exist?

Yes I did. I really do appreciate the assistance but don't really see
why it's such a shock that I'd do this. After all, E2k was designed to
do just this plus even more. Am I to be chided for creating multiple
mailbox stores or storage groups since it can be done? If you don't
attempt to learn the software you support then how can you know if
you're using the software up to it's capabilities? I would bet that
very few people on this list (other than Ed and William, of course)
haven't blown up some machine while trying to play around with software.
After all, if it weren't for someone playing around with the registry in
5.5 then we wouldn't have, for free, the lovely disclaimers that so many
of us are forced to have.

So you set it up like that on purpose?

That is correct. The public folder is NOT under All Public Folders.
Per MS, MAPI clients cannot see anything but the "All Public Folders".
All other trees can be seen via other clients such as OWA.

Is it just me, or is that all kind of screwed up. How come you can
access
the Public Folder from OWA, but not from Outlook? That doesn't make any
sense at all. You say you set up a second Public Folder Tree? You mean
one other than the "All Public Folders", or what? Be more specific
please.

I haven't tried that because if I did I would only have access to the
public folder using OWA. I setup a 2nd Public Folder tree and MAPI
clients only see the default tree. Is anyone else running into this
issue when using public folders?

I think it's this:

> public
folder to myself.

If you turn that off, do you still send OOFs to us?

I realize many of you have received an OOA from me today. My question
is this... I am NOT subscribed to receive any mail under any of my
email addresses (they are all "nomail"). I created a public folder and
it is subscribed to receive mail from the lists. In Exchange I have
automatically forwarded all emails sent to this public folder to myself.
However, I did take away the ability to "Send As" from my account once
the lists were subscribed. Therefore, how am I sending OOA's to anyone?
I have verified each list membership and have checked the Exchange
settings also and they are correct? Since so many of you seem so
knowledgeable in this area and like to offer their opinions of OOA's,
I'm all ears. Any ideas?
