Or use the delivery restrictions tab to restrict who the list will accept
messages from.  We often place the distribution list itself in this list so
that only members of the list can send messages to the list (or use any
other appropriate DL for security).

You can remove the smtp address from it's properties.  That way out side
senders will not be able to send to it.
