Arcserve does Brick Level Backups - as part of the Exchange add-on agent.
You can only restore a mailbox if you have backed the mailbox up - thus you
have performed an Exchange Brick Level Backup of the Mailboxes.

Personally, I would set the deleted item retention period to several months
if you have to! I am not overly keen on Brick Level Backups.

Question, does ArcServ 2000 restore individual mailbox ? Also, how does
ArcServ 2000 restore individual mailbox, is it as easy as point and click or
have to create the mailbox first before restoring to it ?

Yes, we us ARCserve 2000 Exchange Backup Agent to back up Exchange 5.5, SP4
... and yes, we have restored using the backups it takes.

I agree it's not totally unknown for the Backup Agent RPC to Dr Watson out -
but usually only when doing a BLB (which we all know we don't need to be
doing - and now that our migration from the Exchange client to Outlook is
nearing completion and people can use Recover Deleted Items we won't be
doing any longer): I can't recall having a problem with either the Directory
or Information Store.

As for re-registering everything after the upgrade from ARCserve 6.x, all I
had to do was enter the 8-digit customer ID and postcode, and select the
product and enter the 16-digit registration code from the License Program
Certificate supplied via our resellers (who do the talking to CA on our
behalf on the odd occasions we've needed to).

Hi everyone,

I am just wondering if anyone has used Arcserve 2000 Exchange Backup Agent
for their daily backup schedule? I am thinking about implementing it with
our Exchange 5.5 SP4 server and want to know if there are any problems this
agent may give me.

My biggest concern is does it restore the whole Exchange server if there is
a disaster and the complete restore is required.

Thanks in advance..
