Title: RE: (Slightly) Saving Outlook Email to text
Indeed.  There's a KB article for that.  Also could be routing was messed up.  Something was most likely changed.

But I think there is often accompanying event ID's in the log with a 2140.

It could also be that the service account's password for exchange was changed and not changed in SERVICES.

Subject: Error 2140

Next monday I start at a new company. The current IT manager has just been sacked due to a load of issues that are not worth going into. I called them today to discuss some matters and found that the mail server is down. I have popped in to try and do something about it am getting stuck.

NT 4.0 SP6a
Exchange 5.5 (no service pack I think, how do I find out)
Office network 192.168.254.x
Internet connection is ADSL
Access to the internet is via NAT
Therefore with this setup popbeemer is used to send and recieve to the exchange server via pop3.
I am trying to convert asap to routed IP and use SMTP.

The IMS would not start. So I have installed RAS, reinstalled the service pack for NT, deleted and re-installed the IMS but cannot get it to start, it comes back with error 2140.

Internal email can be sent to each other, and all existing email is still there.

Any ideas?
