We use a BSD Firewall, route mail to a Solaris Sendmail server, and then into the private environment where exchange 5.5 sits. All that we have open on the firewall for mail is 25 for SMTP. But to answer you question, yes you only need to send the mail to exchange from whatever is intercepting it.

I would like to use the firewall the same way ms proxy 2.0 is used. Basically, do I have to open port 25 on Linux and have it rout that traffic to exchange?... thanks, Fred Valdez GSRINC Network Administrator List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm
