MAPI gets overloaded.
If you were to have a  virus like ILOVEYOU attack, it would hammer your mail server so hard, that a MAPI scanner would overload. If MAPI overloads, it will pass the infected emails. That is one of the worse things about MAPI based scanning.
Whereas an AVAPI or ESE based scanner would essentially just allow them to pile up behind it and not pass them until scanned.

Tried that several times. I have isolated this to the server I believe. I have set up the mail box on 2 other machines and I have the same issue on both of them.

Have you tried deleting the offending OST and recreating it? That will often do wonders.

Hello all...

I seem to have stumbled across a nerve racking problem with Exchange and Outlook. We are using Exchange 5.5 SP4 on NT 4 SP6 with Outlook 2000, and we get the following error when we try to synch the mailbox.

5:04:22 Synchronizing Mailbox 'user'
15:04:22 Synchronizing Hierarchy
15:04:22 Synchronizing Favorites
15:04:22 Synchronizing Folder 'Inbox'

15:04:36 Synchronizing Folder 'Deleted Items'
15:04:36 Synchronizing Views
15:04:36 Synchronizing Forms

I have no idea where to go with this, and the Microsoft fixes don't work. Any help would be greatly apprecitated.
