If you were doing brick level backups <shudder> you can redirect your mailbox restore to a different server using BENT 8.6 (not sure about earlier versions). The permissions are a bit finicky, and you would probably be better served to use the method Jennifer lists below (good to know for disaster recovery, anyway). For more details on restoring the IS to a new server, see the following (read them, know them, love them): <http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/techinfo/administration/55/Disaster.asp>

Another possibility is that (rumor) there may be a utility for backup exec that will allow you to restore a server on a machine with a different name. You may need to call the vendor regarding the utility or search the internet. -----Original Message----- From: Chris Thelen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, January 02, 2002 3:02 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: Exchange 5.5 Emergency My company just merged with another company and they screwed up our exchange server. Here is what happened: We had an exchange 5.5 SP3 server that got moved to a new domain and also had it's name changed. My users were added to there existing 5.5 SP3 server. The problem is that the admin didn't grab my users existing mailboxes before he renamed and switched the domain. I have a back up of the exchange information store and directory, but when I try to restore it, backup exec gives me an error that it has to restore it to the original server. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
