Here is what I had to do:

Assign a second static IP to my Exchange 5.5 box NIC.  (Example:  192.168.1.100 was the original IP.  Then I bound a second IP as 192.168.1.101)

In the Internet Mail Service Connector I allowed 192.168.1.101 to relay. (Routing restrictions, added 192.168.1.101 to “host and clients connecting to these internal addresses)

Told the Digital send that the SMTP server was 192.168.1.101.

Be sure to stop and restart the internet mail service.

That’s it.  Works great and keeps my server relay secure because I am not allowing my NAT’d address to relay, which of course, would allow your public IP to become a relay!

Allow the ip address of the HP 9100c as a valid host that can rely in the Exchange 5.5 IMS or the Exchange 2000 virtual SMTP server
