Our Exchange 5.5 SP4 server on Win NT4 SP6a server was suddenly powered off. On re-boot the following message was displayed... "The microsoft Information Store service returned a service specific error. (4294967041)" In the event log the following messages are listed. Event ID: 0 Source: ESE97 Type: Error Catagory: Logging/Recovery "MSExchangeIS (195-255)" Event ID: 1120 Source: MSExchangeIS Type: Error Catagory: General "Error 0xffffff01 initialising the Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store Database." Event ID: 5000 Source: MSExchangeIS Type: Error Catagory: General "Unable to initialise the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service. Error 0xffffff01" Event ID: 1005 Source: MSExchangeSA Type: Error Catagory: Monitoring "Unexpected error <<0xc0040000 - The Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not available. Either there are network problems or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is down for maintenance. Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store ID no: 8004011d-0526-00000000>> occurred." This has happend after staying here in overtime and I was about to go home. Could anyone suggest the best course of action I should take? I know that there is an error in the IS but I don't know the best order to perform repair/recovery. Is there a best practice order in which to attemped recovery?
