"...Hosts and clients that successfully authenticate"

Whichever method you set on the server.  If you choose plain text, then those that successfully authenticate using plain text will be able to relay.

Subject: Very technical question about relay restrictions for the IMC in Exch5.5

Does anyone know, in the IMC Routing tab / Routing Restrictions, when you select "Hosts and clients that successfully authenticate", is the authentication method plain text, NTLM, or what?  I've got a person using the Mulberry e-mail client and it has a choice of authentication methods: plain text, NTLM, SSL (which we're not running on our Exchange server) and a few others.  I told him to try NTLM but I've looked in 3 Exchange books and did several searches both at Microsoft and using google, and haven't found any info that gives me the details on how the authentication info is transmitted.
