Ok ... thanks William and Martin ... but sorry for my ignorance: what does MAPI use to resolve it? When you create a profile, doesn't it use the alias name to find the correct mailbox ... but I guess it then must use the distinguished name or the directory name after that?? I don't understand why the following scenario works, so please enlighten me: When an alias name is changed on a mailbox, an Outlook profile that pre-existed can resolve the new alias name and open the right mailbox.
