RAID5 is very beneficial for the databases. I would sacrifice RAID1 for
the OS/logs to get that.

Subject: Exchange 2000 Server Sizing

Hello,

I know this thread comes and goes, but our main reseller for the past 6
years sold his business and I don't trust the new owner, also we are an
HP shop and now I guess we will be buying compaq servers.

We will be deploying Exc2000 standard later this summer,

+/- 100 users
we have about 5GB pub 5GB priv now (exc55)
win2k, ol2k clients

we will be getting a new server

what do others of you have, I don't have a ton of $ to spend, but need
something rock solid.

one vendor has quoted compaq proliant ml370/512RAM smart array 5i
controler/ 18GB drives.

my boss and the other vendor don't seem to think raid1 for
os/software/logs and raid5 for db is necessary for our size, only 1
raid5 partitioned.

help please

thanks
