We have an Exchange 5.5 on NT 4.0 for email and have now setup a new
Exchange 5.5 on Win2k server to be used as our public folder server. I have
looked into the KB articles by Microsoft on how to remove the public
information store from an existing Exchange server, but it has left me with
a few questions.

1. Is it safe to remove the public information store from the original
Exchange server (that will stay in production as private store only)? (We
have replicated the pub to the other server) We need to free up the 10 GB
of space the Pub takes up.

2. The KB article basically says to use Perfwiz to clear the pub (but this
does not actually delete the pub.edb file), is this the best way?

3. After running the wizard, can I just delete the pub.ebd file to recover
the space?

4. The KB article also states that you need to move other items such as
Free/Busy and Offline address book if removing the server. If the server is
staying and all we are doing id deleting the pub.edb file, do we need to
move all the others over to the other server as well? How do they
(free/busy, address book, etc) relate to the pub.edb ?

Any suggestions will be appreciated greatly.

Thanks
Craig
