Exchange Administrator equivalent account that lets you into anybody's mail. And, the logon locally right would have killed all users, not just one, right? I fixed the authentication issues by forcing a new SID via nuking the user off the domain. Oddly enough, this is now fixed. What I did (in a fit of total disgust) was to carefully do all the work over again (removing mail, user, user from domain, resynch domain, etc etc) and now it works. I must have done something different the first time through (although I can't imagine what it might be).
