You can right-click an OU and select Export List, or do a 'find' at the domain level in ADUC.  However, a better way is to construct a script that reads the 'proxyAddresses' value of objects, such as users, groups, and public folders.  IMHO, this is a good way of finding an address that may be used by some deeply buried object.  And if you say "I don't know much about scripts" then my answer is that anyone administering W2k/E2k should learn, because:

a) It's not that difficult, and you can re-use code snippits in different scripts over and over again.
b) It's really, really, useful for thousands of admin issues like this!

I hate to sound really thick here, but it's Exchange 2000, the exchange admin prog doesn't work on Exchange 2000.

Exchange administrator program to do export,(Tools, Directory Export, select your options) then open the csv file that was created in Excel and do your search.

Subject: Can't Create SMTP Address

Hi All,

I have a really really annoying problem. I am trying to add an SMTP address to a user, but whenever I add it, it tells me it is already in use in the organisation.

If I search AD I can't find anyone using that address and if I send an email to the address it tells me that the user has changed address permantly and forwarding was not possible. Does anyone know how I can find out if someone is using the address or how I can delete it to allow me to assign it to the new user.

Many Thanks

Jez
