Same here we just shelled out 6 figures to MS to get current. We have a huge set of software that the pc people can install from . Not any more. Oh the whinnnn. Also to get a mailbox has to go thru my boss. Internet access goes thru me. These are the same people that think troubleshooting a pc is to reghost it. arhhhhh!!

Yeah, when we took away Help Desk's admin rights they whined and complained, even resorted to calling us names.  I think "LAN Gestapo" was the favored name for us for a while.  And you should have heard them when we started cracking down on software licensing.....oh my, we took away their install disks and removed installs from the network & made them start coming through us to obtain keys, ohhhh it was bad, but we're now legal on our software licensing so they can keep whining all they want, we don't listen to whiners either.... :P

Yeah, we had a major security change around here which prompted much whining about rights and such.  I shrug my shoulders and say "Oh well".  Everyone whines when I take their rights away, everyone seems to think they deserve or need admin rights here.  I think a bit differently.

She whined a little bit, but she also knows me and knows that I don't listen to whiners...   :P

No one on help desk, even the lead, can come close to my exchange server.  They can't even get into the server room without one of us domain admins escorting them.  Neither my mgr nor my CTO has rights on any of our servers.  The mgr can get into the server room, he has the code, but the CTO has to find one of us to get in there :)    So did she whine very much when you took away her admin rights?

Our Help Desk Manager did that on a Friday afternoon after I left for the day.  She won't be forgetting about that "mistake" for quite some time.  IIRC, I revoked her admin rights soon after that incident.  ;o)

I sent my Exchange server on a round trip one day just before 5pm.  It was an honest accidental event.  I was remotely attached to it via SMS and instead of disconnecting properly, I rebooted it.  It was rather fun ;)

I would!  I like to choose the most inconvenient time to do these types of things so my off-duty hours are not affected...  :P

Yep.  (Obviously you don't wanna do this during normal usage hours ;)
