Hi Ely:

Both Exchange 2000 server and NAS are connected to the same L3 core switch
in the same subnet.

Using interactive backup (by click backup "Now") it's no problem. But when
running at schedule backup, it fails.

The schedule backup to the hard disk seams only works if the hard disk is a
DAS, not working if the hard disk is a Network Drive (NAS,  hard disk at
other servers....)

Have you verified you connectivity to your NAS.  Seems like it might be
losing a connection, getting overwhelmed or something.  What kind of
backbone are we talking about?

Hi William:

The Exchange 2000 server with Exchange 2000 SP2 is running on Windows 2000
SP2.

And I use Hard disk (Network Drive of a NAS or other member server's Hard
disk) to store the backup data.

The first line of Exchange 2000 backup is backup by a HP Tape library with
Legato.

We want to have a "backup of backup" in order to quickly restore the data,
if needed.

Regards

Kevin

Subject: Exchange 2000 schedule backup
Hi:
I'm trying to backup Exchange 2000 by the Windows 2000 build-in backup
program. (save the backup at a NAS)
The Exchange 2000 server link to a NAS and make a Network Drive of the NAS.
1. When perform the backup task by select backup "NOW", the data is saved at
the Network Drive (NAS) --> Job done.
2. When perform the backup by schedule, it fails. The backup report shows
"Backup Status. The operation was not performed because the specified media
cannot be found."
3. I choose another network drive (the D$ of another member server) to save
the backup data (schedule backup), the same error occurred.
So, the Network Drive (NAS or other server) cannot be the location of saving
the schedule backup.
Any ideal?
