Move everyone else out to a new database, then delete the old one. From: SMREKAR, JACK [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2008 8:44 AM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: reclaiming space
I have moved a couple hundred mailboxes from one Exchange server to another in hopes of reclaiming some space on the first server. In all so far I have moved about 120 gig of mailboxes to the other server but I do not see that space coming back on the first server. I do run the online maintenance of the databases that is built inside of the system manager. I also get emails nightly on what was done. Below is one that I got last night. I was under the impression that Exchange would clean itself up after the moves and allow the database to shrink after it ran the maintenance. Do I have something set wrong or is my thinking wrong. If my thinking is wrong do I need to do an offline defrag to get the space back?
