Yep, x 2 on the boggling.  It was all the rage in 2003/2004 and I think
it got wide notoriety when EL announced they were going to roll it out.
I think you're right that it's now a part of the standard spam
filtering.

I see TONS of people using challenge/response spam filtering solution on
our company's mailing list.  It boggles me.

 

The biggest culprit is Earthlink accounts.  I think the turn it on by
default for their customers or something...

Interesting.  I saw others complaining about it yesterday, but I think I
was deleting it with the OOF's coming in and missed.  I just got one, 15
minutes after I sent an email to the list.

 

I can't believe someone is actually using a challenge/response spam
