I have been working upgrading exchange 2003 to 2007 for the last few weeks now. My domain is at has 2003 forest & domain functional level and there are 4 exchange BE 2003 servers and a 2003 FE server. I've got the new exchange 2007 mailbox, HT and CAS role servers installed and working now, all mail is flowing thru the 2007 HT server, mailboxes migrated & public folders replicated to the 2007 server and removed replicas from the 2003. I'm now ready to start removing some of the 2003 servers. When I go into add/remove programs on one of the servers, and get to the point where I'm setting the "remove" action I get: Setup encountered an error while checking prerequisites for the component "Microsoft Exchange": 0XC))70005 (5): Access is denied.
This happens no matter what account I use, including the admin account I use for day to day Exchange management or even the enterprise admin account. It happens on the FE server and on the BE that is ready for removal. These lines are at the end of the exchange setup log: [11:47:03] ScPRQ_ServerIsNotHomeServerForAnyUsers (f:\titanium\admin\src\udog\excommon\prereq.cxx:3230) Error code 0XC0070005 (5): Access is denied. [11:47:03] === IGNORING PREVIOUS ERRORS === HrSetProblemOnInstallAction, while calling ScCheckPrerequisites (f:\titanium\admin\src\udog\bo\comboifaces.cxx:1399) The operation has completed successfully. [11:47:03] Setup encountered an error while checking prerequisites for the component "Microsoft Exchange": 0XC0070005 (5): Access is denied. Any ideas on how I can get these old servers removed? I'm not concerned about the servers themselves - they are all scheduled to be retired or rebuilt. My main concern is getting the old servers out of AD. Would I be OK if I just followed the AD removal parts of KB833396 and ignored the rest? ...Tim ~ Ninja Email Security with Cloudmark Spam Engine Gets Image Spam ~ ~ http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Ninja ~
