Over the weekend an administrative user inadvertently deleted a test OU that contained several accounts, all of which were mail enabled users. We had solid AD backup the midnight before the event so the majority were successfully recovered via a "recover subtree" authoritative restore process for the whole OU. A handful of these deleted accounts that were scattered throughout several other OUs at the time of the BU, so the choice we made to perform a "restore object" authoritative restore for them.
The problem now is that the mailbox contents before the "recovery", for these last accounts, is no longer present in the "recovered" accounts. For all but a few of these accounts had 'disconnected mailboxes' in addition to their working mailboxes that started from just after the restores. the process for those users has been to PST those current contents, disable the current 'short' mailboxes, and re-connect the 'disconnected' full mailboxes. This was working perfectly until 1 user's full 'old' mailbox appeared active (in E2K3 admin), but did not appear at all in E2K7 admin. When I disabled the recovered short mailbox, nothing populated under disabled to reconnect to the user account. So now I have a valid AD user, with what appears to be a full old-mailbox (I can view it on the original E2K7 MBX server when using the E2K3 admin), but I can connect it in E2K7 and I cant see it in E2K7 admin. Single domain, single Exchange organization. Currently in last phases of migration from E2K3 to e2K7. All mailboxes are homed in E2K7. Exchange 2003 is SP2 on W2K3 Ent SP2 x86 (4 node cluster) Exchange 2007 is SP2 RU6 on W2K8 Ent SP1 x64. The mailbox servers are CCR clustered. AD is 2003, on W2K3 R2 x64. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Any comments, observations, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
