Do you have a PGP software client on each system? We have PGP Whole Disk
Encryption and it's managed by the same PGP Universal Server that would
handle e-mail encryption.

With the PGP email system. Emails are sent from Outlook and marked as
confidential. (IIRC you can also base it keywords in the subject).

With us, we use mailsweeper so MSW checks for the confidential flag and
passes the email over to PGP for encrypting.

At this point an email is sent to the recipient informing them of an
email is waiting for them. Recipient then clicks a link in the email
that takes them to a secure HTTPS portal and then the email can be
read/replied. The first time this linked is clicked the user is asked to
create a passphrase.

Emails are not stored encrypted on Exchange.

So how do all of these products work, are they the last hop out and the
first hop in so the messages are not encrypted while in exchange?

I have been tasked to present an email encryption solution. What with
HITech and HIPAA, we will probably be sending PHI related emails in the
near future.

I have been looking at a few products. One that caught my eye was
Ironport. Is anybody using it and if so, how is it? Thanks.
