What's the best way to do that? Can I simply create a service account and give
it perms? Does it just need read mailbox permissions?

Well....

Just like for exmerge - you need to create an account that has access to all
Exchange mailboxes but is not a member of any protected account.

The protected account limitation does not apply to public folders.

Yes I did.

File connect I entered a mailbox server FQDN and the GC FQDN and Exchange
administrator credentials. I assume those are good since I can view the public
folders.

Did you download and use the latest version (released last week)?

If so, what did you use for File -> Connect?

I'm having trouble using this tool - I can get it to list my public folder
properties, but when I try to view mailboxes I get "could not expand
https://servername object reference not set to instance of an object".

Simply changing the option to Public Folders it works fine.

Servers are Exchange 2K7.

Ideas?
