In regards to the OP's question: if your Exchange data is primarily email, then you'll likely see a slight decrease, even with the loss of SIS. This is because textual data (text, HTML) is now compressed by the Exchange store before it's put into the EDB. If your Exchange data is primarily binary attachments (zip files, images, PPT, Word, PDF, etc.) then you'll see an increase in size. According to MSIT, when they moved all of MSFT over to Exchange 2010, the difference in size was "negligible". [A one-for-one comparison really isn't possible, because the format of the EDB changed significantly between 2007 and 2010 as well.] I know there is a detailed post about this topic at msexchangeteam.com.
