Any standalone server that gets rolled out here has a single RAID 1 (mirror) at a minimum. These days you can get that for little more than the cost of a second drive with the pseudo hardware raid available in the motherboard chipset. Even Dell desktops have that option.
It's a small price to pay when the hard drive is the probably the least reliable hardware component.
