Thanks Simon. I believe WM5 is the one that has problems with wildcards, not sure about iPhones and Nokia's (I did ask Nokia and got various canned replies that answered various questions that I hadn't asked so I gave up).
I'm leaning towards the view of buying the cheapest well supported wildcard that I can find, and buying one for 5 years and using it wherever I can, and if I have problems with Exchange I'll just buy a dedicated UCC/SAN cert for that - I know it's not much in the grand scheme of things but a Digicert wildcard for 5 years works out around 10x the cost of some of the wildcard certs out there (I know I'm not comparing like with like).
