Are today's versions of Backup Exec and the like still a threat to the database when doing brick level backups and restores? I've only used NTbackup since Exchange 5.0, but we are going through a merger and my new counterpart wants to use the third party software so we can restore individual mailbox items without loading the entire Recovery Storage Group. I remember seeing in the past that these sort of backups and restores can cause problems in the database. Is this FUD, old news, or something that still should be avoided?
