I resolved this by having them send a message to ab...@domain.com using the recipients' domain name and they received the "email address does not exist" NDR. Then, miraculously, they were both able to send and receive a reply from the original recipients. While I'm glad the issue seems to be resolved I have no idea why this worked. What's up with that?
