A lot of the larger places seem to utilize a subdomain scheme like
spf1.example.com, spf2.example.com, ... , spfn.example.com and then use
include:spf1.example.com, etc... in the main record in the example.com
zone.

For example, hotmail.com:

;; ANSWER SECTION:
hotmail.com.            3600    IN      TXT     "v=spf1
include:spf-a.hotmail.com include:spf-b.hotm
ail.com include:spf-c.hotmail.com include:spf-d.hotmail.com ~all"
