i had a call last week from a client who i had installed server 2008 / exchange 2010 SP1 for a couple of months ago
he had rebooted the server and stated e-mail was not working i logged on remotely to see that all of the MS Exchange services were set to disabled and that the IIS and IISadmin services were disabled too i re enabled all of the services and rebooted the server this has brought up MS Exchange so that they can connect via Outlook in the office and MS Exchange Management Shell is working too however OWA is not working giving these messages: Outlook Web App didn't initialise. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk. Couldn't find a base theme (folder name=base) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copy error details to clipboard Show details with 3 image placeholders with red crosses searching Google i suspect that the server has been power cycled whilst an MS Exchange updates was in progress. this is mostly confirmed by the local 'IT' person saying that he pushed the power button as the server 'hung' on applying updates after asking the server to reboot questions: is it possible to work out if an update has been interrupted and which one? i have done a quick scan of the event viewer logs but nothing jumps out at me? is it possible to 'unpick' an interrupted update? is this advisable their emails are not backed up on a daily basis though i did implement a weekly backup of the MS Exchange databases in order to commit the logs. this backup appeared to complete successfully on Saturday evening I'm on site tomorrow to try to resolve the non working OWA issue and would appreciate any heads up or advice from people who may have experienced this previously thank you Laurence --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe exchangelist
