Thanks, Sean (and Michael). This is embarrassing. I completely missed that step after I created the LUN. I guess that's what comes from not following my own written procedure adn trying to wing it.

You mentioned you added a another LUN to the server, which would be seen as a new disk. You need to extend the existing LUN on your CX. - Sean On Mon, Nov 7, 2011 at 12:37 PM, Chinnery, Paul <pa...@mmcwm.com<mailto:pa...@mmcwm.com>> wrote: Windows Std 2003 Exchange 2007 CX500 SAN I need to increase the volume size where my Exchange db is located. I added another LUN to the server and tried to use Diskpart to Extend the volume. Unfortunately, I get the error 'this volume can't be extended.' I have used this same method to expand the volumes on many servers although this would be the first time for Exchange. Is there something particular about Exchange that would prevent expanding the total size available? I've searched and the only thing I found was that it couldn't be (and this was a general response not directed at Exchange) extended if a page file is in use on that drive. I verified that the only items on the particular drive are both Exchange stores (public and private).
