I have never used NetBackup. Fear my google-fu. :)

I actually sat down with him and had him show me the config - it's an Exchange
Server "full" backup. I will ask him to double check that.

None of the darn logs are deleting.
Bah humbug!

In re: [1] - that's a setup issue for the backup. You have to be doing a FULL
backup instead of a COPY backup. Log deletions replicate just like everything
else. If logs gets deleted on a secondary (presuming you do the backup on the
secondary) then logs will also be deleted on the primary (after a short delay).

Subject: Exchange 2010 issues

Good morning!
So, I started this new gig.
I'm pretty familiar with Exchange, but not 2010 - I've administered it, but
haven't configured it.

There are several issues, and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right
direction.
Yes, I bought the book, and yes, I've googled till my fingers ache.

Exchange 2010, Win 2008 R2.
Clustered mailbox server, clustered CAS, clustered TMG.

1 - they use Symantec Netback, and they have the Exchange agent.
They do a full backup nightly.
The logs do not flush. The admin here says he turns on circular logging,
deletes the logs, turns it off, etc.
I want the logs to flush automatically - I'm told that it's impossible because
they are replicating....
So, it looks like a couple of databases need to be reseeded - if I do that on
the databases that are *not* active, will it effect the ones that are?

2 - the TMG servers have not been updated (TMG updates as well as Windows
updates).
I have added a rule for the local hosts to be able to access the MS updates,
sites, but it's not happening.
I tried adding a rule for the local hosts to "external" but I get an error
message that since there's only one NIC, it probably won't work. (yes, I'm
paraphrasing)

There's more, but it's early yet, and these are the two that bother me the most.
Thanks all.
Candee
