When you run vssadmin list writers on a mailbox server it isn't there?

That's what I thought too. And it's odd that it sometimes does work (once
every two weeks or so).

If this were true, your app and system logs would be full of errors.

Ha,
While its hard not to hate on CA, er Symantec, that sounds like a load.
You could always disprove this, have a script run before your backup and
enumerate the list.
Honestly, I know what the output will be anyway...

happy Monday,
I'm battling an exchange 2010 backup issue where my backup (Backup Exec 2012),
will only backup the exchange store every once in a while. Symantec says it is
a Windows issue because the VSS Exchange writer is not showing up in the list
writers command. I've done quite a bit of research, just checking if anyone has
run up against this before.
Thanks
Steve
