I actived some DAG databases from one server to another yesterday, and now the
indexes do not seem to be updating (searches not returning results for new
messages arriving after the cutover time). I restarted the index services
(msexchange search indexer). But it still does not seem to be updating.

In order to fix this it looks like I will need to rebuild the index. Can I do
this on the non-active databases and then cut over, or do I need to this on the
active database copy? Does this means that while it is rebuilding, I am not
able to do any searches, or rather just that which is completed?

Or, can I rebuild on the inactive databases, and then cut over, and rebuild on
that server?

Thanks
Steven Stringham
