Lucky you! Just checked with AT&T and Verizon here and both sent/received are charged against data plan.

In the uk Most data plans in fact everyone I've seen only include download to the device Not upload So in the uk this would not affect his plan no matter how the photo was sent. YMMV On Wednesday, 3 April 2013, John Matteson wrote: Depends on how he's connecting from the iPad to the Exchange server. If it's an Active Sync connection, like the Mail+ app, then it would be like Outlook connected to an Exchange server, if he was at his limit in the mailbox, then the mail would just sit there and not move. You might want to check the iPad for other apps/reasons why the guy is over his data limit. I had a user use way way over his data allowance from his IPad and found that he had hit his mailbox size limit so was unable to send. At the time he had a work related photo in his outbox. Do you think it could be trying to send the whole 7Meg photo as far as the exchange server before getting denied to send using up his data allowance or would the exchange server not allow anything to be sent as far as the server? Cut along story short, we need to know if the email could of caused the large data usage when the mailbox was denying send due to him hitting his limit. Any experiences?
