If we are going to do this switch, I suggest that we also switch wireless_tools at the same time as wireless_tools is also considered deprecated, in favour of iw. Ensuring that packages which use the old tools are updated to the new tools is probably the best first step. Packages requiring the tools to manage the interfaces should be updated to only use the new tools.
