What about setting up nightly tarballs in the meantime? It should be fairly
simple to setup one of the machines with access to the CVS server to do a

Right. I think I have done this. I've created a script that runs on the
CVS server and creates
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/Testing/exim-snapshot.tar.bz2
ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/email/exim/Testing/exim-testsuite-snapshot.tar.bz2
I have set up a cron job to do this nightly, but of course I won't know
until tomorrow whether that part is working or not.
The files from that FTP site should in due course get mirrored
elsewhere.
Great!, we'd now stop bugging you for manual snapshots before releases :)
Just one more suggestion, having separate exim-snapshot-ChangeLog.gz and
exim-snapshot-NewStuff.gz would ease monitoring CVS activity without
wasting too much ftp bandwidth.
