I'm currently using 1.07 (and used all realeases since at least 0.9) with smtps (port 465, tls-on-connect), never had _any_ problem with it. It's very unlikely that your 550 is not caused by some ACL. If you want the real reason, run "exim -d -bd 2>&1 | less", send a message with TB and search for "550".
