well, I never said that ... But your giving away all the advantages of a package manager, aren't you? (not talking about the disadvantages here ... ) exim isn't the only package I use (what a surprise) and I've got more than one box (on different platforms) to maintain so fetching the source, compile it, watch for errors and then - of course - do this on a test system first before cou go live with it is significantly more work than aptitude update; aptitude upgrade ... > No need to be afraid of the sources .. I'm working with Linux long enough (10+ years) for not to be afraid about sources, however, I confess: I'm just lazy and looking for an easier way ;-) Thanks Ted for the comment anyway ...
