Hi,
I've noticed that, using the dovecot authenticator, if in the first
attempt a wrong password is given, then all subsequent attempts fail
with "435 Unable to authenticate at present: authentication socket read
error or premature eof". Here's what's in the logs:
2008-09-12 08:16:14 dovecot_plain authenticator failed for
200-138-102-204.ctame706.dsl.brasiltelecom.net.br [200.138.102.204]: 535
Incorrect authentication data
2008-09-12 08:16:21 dovecot_plain authenticator failed for
200-138-102-204.ctame706.dsl.brasiltelecom.net.br [200.138.102.204]: 435
Unable to authenticate at present: authentication socket read error or
premature eof
And the second message goes keeps repeating until exim closes the
connection after too many non-mail commads. It happens not only with
plain but also with login and cram-md5.
I'm using exim 4.68 and dovecot 1.1.2.
I'm not sure this is a problem with exim, might as well be something
with dovecot. Can anyone shed some light?
