While the issue/bug/whatever is being investigated, and I can't remember your long description of why you're moving to Exim from postfix etc, but how about, as an interim step: 1. additionally run postfix on the host, but bound only to some port on localhost rather than a network port; 2. run exim normally, but configure a specific router and transport to deliver mail bound for yahoo/etc domains to the local postfix instance; 3. therefore, you now let postfix handle the yahoo/etc deliveries, which according to you works fine, and exim does the rest. Then you get the best of both worlds, at least until your configuration issue/whatever is identified.
