Are you looking to tweak the time a message spends in the queue if
'immediate delivery' fails? You may want this section:

Not really. I'm looking for a setting to give it more time while
connected before it times out. Trying to avoid this:
defer (110): Connection timed out: SMTP timeout while connected to
mail.activ8.net.au [116.250.255.62] after sending data block (90079
bytes written)
