Thanks for this, but I am still confused as I have a valid key+cert installed so why do I get the warning at all?

The keep_environment warning you'll find in the mainlog.
Now (as of commit b25c9675b31bf159f8fcfae41e1f6fb3fe292fd7) the
warnings of -bV go to the console, and not to the log(s).

And c0ebc07afcedf09ec166a31a6e14928c2cd03d26 fixes the 'make install'
warning.

Too late for 4.87. But both isn't critical.
