my Vodafone blackberry works perfectly from our Moscow server using
beeline and EDGE - the machine bought from inside terminal 1 at Heathrow
cost GBP127.00, and since then they've given me two free updated
machines on the contract anniversary, monthly fee for roaming on 'data
only' contract was GBP 26 /month for 1st year and since then has been
continuously reduced at the moment I'm paying GBP 16.00/month with some
mad 100 free SMS option. Incoming calls are free.

MTS has been in talks with RIM - Research in Motion (Blackberry's
developer) for years now and even has an internal system set up for MTS
management use. The reason for the delay that I've heard are issues with
the authorities regarding RIM's encryption methods.

The easiest way for Americans is to pick up an unlimited data-only plan
from T-Mobile (www.t-mobile.com) for $30 per month and get the unlimited
international roaming option for $20. You'll be paying $50/mo. and have
unlimited e-mail on the road wherever GPRS is available from local
carriers.

The same goes with O2 for Europeans here. I think it comes out to
approx. EURO 50.

If and when Blackberry service will be offered direct from a Russian
carrier, I doubt it will be any cheaper than the above prices.

        Hey,

Anyone has any experience with using their Blackberry in Moscow.
Was at the megafon office and they could not hook up the MMS or internet
ability.
        Thanks
