1. it's old age, the restaurant "sirnaya dirka" is on (behind) the corner of
pokrovka and pokrovskii. go down pokrovskii a block from the coffee bean and
it was on the right side corner.

2. best (read crrrrreepy) chinese food is "druzhba" literally next to
novoslobodskaya metro, blood sausage, and pig intestines, but it is easily the
most genuinely chinese place in moscow. as in chinese come in buses to eat
there, also it is a bit mazelike which is kind of cool.

3. kitaiskii kvartal (prospect mira!!!), not the taganka one is good, great
outdoor terrace in the back, try the curry lamb with kinza (coriander), puar
tea huge pot with tea leaves (there is a disturbing new trend, other than the
failure to sell me a mattress sweeping Moscow, it's the tea pot empty of tea
leaves, with Coffeemania like a ridiculous offender with a 450 ruble pot of tea
(less than 500ml) that can't be refilled, I can't talk about it anymore, I am
verklempt) and generally good stuff. Avoid the "buffet table like the plague
that it is. You have not lived until you have seen kids run up to a buffet
table and take stuff with their hands. Yikes. Adults, I can understand, they
do it cause they are drunk.

4. this is worth a trip, business lunch at Vappio on Prospect Mira, it's the
big glass building with the Wella academy on the right and Vappio on the left.
same menu, half off. also walk through the building and you will find the MGU
herb garden (botanicheskii sad), kind of a neat thing in the center of town
that few folks know about.

5. tiramisu at correa's. and isaac, if you read this, why the heck did you get
rid of the tuna and bacon sandwich? i mean if you have to charge 30r per
skinny slice of bacon during breakfast (still the best one in Moscow), why
can't my sandwich be left alone? try the salmon and cream cheese omelet for
breakfast/lunch, great deal.

6. incidentally, when did chistii prudi become such a hell hole? nazi bikers,
I mean seriously, you walk through there and expect to see steven segal (he is
here all the time, but because he truly is obese at this point, it may just
seem like it's ALL the time) or peter fonda, and that's neither fun nor
interesting.
