A friendly alternative offering: Having been dissatisfied with Stream (due to slow speeds and unreliable connections, archaic payment methods involving kiosk cards), Akado (flaky billing), SU-27 (no unlimited use plan and shut my account down after going .009 rubles over balance) and two other companies who are now defunct, I have had best luck with Corbina telecom. I have been using them for almost a year. The speed is incredible. The installation was quite fast and around 3000 rubles. My unlimited traffic plan exceeds promised speeds and is less than 800 rubles a month. The only drawback is a billing system consisting of "when we turn off your service, you know it's time to pay" (but that's ubiquitous in Moscow), the fact that you can no longer pay your bill on their site with a credit card (although pay points are everywhere...I can pay at the produkti on the first floor of my building) and a comparatively limited geographic coverage (I live around Kievskaya and no problems here). Also, it's a dedicated ADSL line so your land line traffic does not interfere with internet speeds (Stream runs through the land line).
Hope that helps, Eric On Dec 6, 2007 10:55 PM, Peter Richter <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Dear Richard, > > We have switched to Stream (www.stream.ru) > > I believe that they cater to anybody's budget and/or needs... > > Only thing you would have to do is test your telephone line (takes one or > two days to get feedback) and to have the permission of the owner of teh > telephone connection (if it is not yours) > > Best Regards > Peter > > _______________________________________________ > Expat mailing list > [email protected] > http://www.lists.ru/mailman/listinfo/expat > http://www.expat.ru/forum/ >
