Indeed it turned out that good old USPS is the right way to go, but when you
mail, write that you want the delivery in Russia to be done via EMS Post - this
way you will avoid the Russian post office and get the parcel in 7 days -
that's what EMS said. EMS is a commercial part of Russian post, and I heard
that indeed they work much faster than regular office.
