Marco,

Don't judge all people on this list just by what a few say about some things
that they might strongly believe in.

I've been on this list for about 10+ years and it's been very helpful to me.

Apart from one or two crazies on here, it's usually a great bunch of expats
mixed with some kind and helpful locals so enjoy it!!!!

Regards,

Nick

Subject: Expat List RE: English tutor

I am new to the list - and am an expat NYer living in moscow.

Is this list a community or is it a nasty fight club?

attacks like the ones i have been reading today are strictly forbidden on most
lists i read - -where is our moderator?

if you don;t have enough respect for each other to speak in some kind of civil
manner, why publicize your pissing match?

having a difference of opinion makes for fascinating discussion, but childish
personal attacks from your laptop are something entirely different.

i was a very serious student of structural linguistics, literary theory, etc -
and could offer all sorts of insights into why a person might want to learn a
certain flavor of english.

but i will not talk with immature expats who sling insults at each other.

it is not easy being an expat - and my experience has been a pretty lonely one.
how sad that i find out that there is a group of expats i could be meeting,
only to find out i have no respect for them!

sincerely,

Marco North
