Christine

I was there for 5 months last year and my wife came over for a month in
August. She walked everywhere, went on excursions - organised and on her
own. She never felt threatened at all. Ok we did live on Tverskaya and
didn't venture too far off the beaten track at night but weekends and during
the day were fine. City of great culture and history and imagine being able
to wander down to Red Square on a Sunday morning to have a coffee and watch
the world go by.... Metro system is practical and efficient but traffic is
horrendous... really. Very few people speak English however, and you would
need to learn Russian if staying there for any length of time.

I've visited NY, LA, Paris, Rome, Budapest, Tokyo, Bangkok, Dubai, Jo'berg,
Cape Town plus many others and it is probably the only city in the world
that I have visited that I could live in. Can't put my finger on why and I
live in UK, in the countryside, in the middle of nowhere.

Many thanks

George
