Now the work contract and assignment will expire and one part of the family moves back home, the other part of the family will stay here. The household to be exported back home is 10-15% less than the originally temporary imported stuff. The moving company says the goods to be exported can differ only by 2 cubic metres to the originally imported goods. If we wanted to export even less, than we would have to pay 40% tax on what we leave here in Russia. We confronted the movers with a unwritten law of 10% wear and tear to be kept in Russia without paying tax but they did not agree. Now my questions: 1) is it true we have to export almost everything down to 2 cubicmeters difference?? 2) is it true that customs opens boxes and checks lists down to the detail that everything that was imported matches everything that will be exported? 3) who defines the amount of tax and based upon what? 4) can we leave things behind for charity and not pay that strange tax if we show a paper confirming that? 5) will it be difficult for a foreigner who leaves Russia to export his household goods (all regular new stuff) that were acquired in Russia? 6) What moving company does a decently priced quality move of about 10 cubic meters from Russia to Europe? Thanks a lot for your help in that complicated matter!
